Testimonials

I feel like I’ve always been an advocate for people of color, but this has pushed me to become an even louder advocate for people of color in the presence of non-people of color. I now feel confident and comfortable and need to be speaking up more in the presence of non-people of color. – Unity Process Participant

I want you to know that it has been effective as a tool in having those conversations about what is considered a sensitive subject by most people in America and it has empowered the people who go through the process to begin those conversations outside of the room.  – Unity Process Participant

The most defining moment was when you, Pam, shared about your experiences of not being seen and how it affected you. I was blown away. – Unity Process Participant

FAQ

Q. Is the Unity Process for individuals or groups?

A. It is for both. Individuals can be plugged into a diverse group. However, if you are already part of a diverse group, then we can either provide a facilitator or facilitator training.

Q. What would be the largest size group that you would present, teach, or do interactive experiences?

A. To present and teach, the only limitation would be with the facilities and technological abilities. For interactive experiences, such as the Unity Process and Safe Space Conversations, smaller groups (12-15 people) are preferred. You can also have smaller groups within a larger group, to create cohorts. We are flexible.

Q. What topics around race and diversity are available?

A. We have included some on our website, but topics can be customize based upon need. The topics can also focus on the context of the target audience, for example, college students, faith leaders.

Q. What is your price?

A. Our fees run between $500-$2,500. Fees are based on a number of criteria, such as, number of hours or days, number of people, breadth of material to be covered. Limited scholarships are available on a need basis.

Q. How long is the Unity Process?

A. The Unity Process has nine sessions. Each group decides how often they want to meet. Ex. A group meeting monthly will take nine months to complete. A group meeting twice a month will take 4 ½ months to complete.

Q. What can I do to get involved in the fight against racism?

A. Getting involved in the fight to dismantle racism depends on several things. First you must consider the skills you have to offer, what you have a passion for, and your time/availability. Then consider contributing in one of the following ways: vote, donate to a cause, connect with an activist or policy group. Please complete the contact form and we will be happy to provide additional guidance.

Q. What can I do to get involved with Visible Unity?

A. Visible Unity needs facilitators for adult groups and high school/college-aged groups. We also need help with marketing, project management, and a variety of administrative duties. Please complete the contact form and we will be happy to provide additional guidance.

Q. Is there an age limit?

A. Youth under 18 cannot currently be accommodated in most programs of Visible Unity. Teenagers accompanied by a parent or guardian may attend certain events. For example, our ‘City Wide Block Party’ does invite families to participate.

Q. Do you have programming for youth?

A. We are adapting the Unity Process for high school and college-aged young adults. Future plans include programming for younger ages.

Q. Is this just for white people?

A. No. All Visible Unity programs work best when we have a diverse group of participants. Hearing the voices, perspectives, and life experiences of those different from you can be just as transformative as the information received.

Q. Do you have a recommended list of resources?

A. Yes, a list of resources including books, articles, audio clips, movie clips and other media is available on our website. Please click here.
